FAQ
What thickness should I choose for a tabletop or shelf?
It depends on size, span, and load. As a quick guide: small side tables often use 1/4″, coffee/dining tables and most shelves use 3/8″, and wider spans or heavier loads may call for 1/2″. We’ll recommend a safe thickness after we see your dimensions.
Which edge is best—flat-polish, pencil, or bevel?
- Flat-polish: modern, squared look; great for tabletops with a crisp profile.
- Pencil (eased): slightly rounded for a softer, safety-forward edge.
- Bevel: angled highlight that adds a traditional, decorative touch.
- It’s important to note that not all edges are available in all glass thicknesses. We’ll help guide you in your decision based on your application.
Can you make a round/oval or custom-shaped glass top?
Yes. We cut circles, ovals, racetracks, and fully template-based shapes. For heirloom or irregular furniture, we’ll template on site or in our shop for a perfect fit.
Do I need tempered glass for cabinet doors or shelves?
Not always. Tempered is recommended near heat sources, doors that see impact, bathrooms, or shelves carrying heavier loads. We’ll advise based on location and use.
Will a wall-to-wall mirror be safe in a bathroom or gym?
Yes, when properly mounted with safety considerations. We use the right adhesives, fasteners, and backing/film where needed, and we account for outlets/sconces with precision cutouts.
What’s the difference between clear and low-iron mirror/glass?
Low-iron reduces the green tint in standard glass, giving a truer color—popular for white tile, quartz, or bright bathrooms. Standard clear is cost-effective and looks great in most spaces.
How long does it take from measure to installation?
Lead times vary by item and finish selections. Simple pieces can move quickly after final measure; patterned/tempered/high-temp items or large mirrors may add time. We’ll share current timing with your quote.
Can you repair a fogged window without replacing the frame?
Often yes. If the frame is sound, swapping the IGU (insulated glass unit) can fix fogging or cracks. If frames are drafty or failing, we’ll recommend full replacement windows instead.
How should I clean and care for my new glass?
Use non-abrasive glass cleaners and soft cloths. Avoid harsh chemicals and scouring pads that can scratch glass or metal. For mirrors, spray the cloth—not the edges—to protect the backing.
Can I finance my home glass project?
Yes—see Financing to pre-qualify with no obligation and preview monthly payment options. This is only a soft pull until you select your loan.
