United Plate Glass (UPG) is proud to announce it has met the requirements to become certified by the North American Contractor Certification Program (NACC) for Architectural Glass and Metal Contractors.
NACC establishes a baseline for competency, business practices and industry-accepted guidelines, and provides the industry’s only third-party credential of its kind. A continuously growing, locally-owned business, UPG began the certification process at the end of 2025.
“UPG has been in business for over 45 years, and we will never stop looking for ways to improve,” said Nate Lawrence, President of UPG. “This certification assures our customers that we are dedicated to delivering high quality products and providing an excellent level of competency, safety and service. “We gained a lot of perspective and knowledge working with NACC, and we are a better contractor because of it.”

UPG becomes only the 11th glazing contractor in Pennsylvania to receive this certification and the first to be certified in all operational categories. In addition, UPG is the only certified glazing contractor based in Central PA. There are just over 100 certified glazing contractors across the United States and Canada.
As part of the certification process, a NACC assessor came in to evaluate UPG’s safety standards, business practices and its Quality Management Systems (QMS), which includes the policies, procedures and systems used from initial proposals to final installation. A job site inspection was also conducted.
NACC recognizes companies that document and maintain standardized policies and procedures, demonstrating that expertise exists throughout the organization rather than with just a single individual or team.
Annual reviews are conducted by NACC to ensure certified contractors continue upholding the high standards of the program, making certification an ongoing long-term commitment.
Glazing contractors can earn the NACC credential in one or more of eight categories, which are interior and exterior entry systems, interior glazing, building envelope low-rise, building envelope high-rise, horizontal glazing, active glass and service work. UPG earned NACC certification in all eight categories.
“NACC allows glazing contractors to demonstrate – through an independent third party and documented evidence – that they take the right steps to deliver the best possible quality and safety to their clients,” said NACC Program Manager Scott Kennett. “By taking the initiative to become certified, UPG has raised the bar for glazing contractors in Central Pennsylvania.”
